Match Reports for Women/Reserves

23 May 10

Knights V Kingborough. A bright and sunny (if very chilly) day made a nice setting for our second matchup with Kingborough. Knights took control of the game early, keeping the ball in front of (and sometimes in) the Lions goal. We welcomed Bianca back to the field, she did an ace job in goals with some massive kicks clearing the ball over the halfway line to set up some good shots at goal! Brenda was a welcome addition to the backline in the first half, holding her players up well and stealing the ball back for us time and time again. The backline were strong as always, covering the ball well and setting up some nice play for our midfielders. Erin and Maz were both very strong in the midfield, creating plenty of play. This was a game for our attacking players, with everyone midfield and up front outclassing their opponents every step of the way. Knights were passing brilliantly and keeping control of the ball well in order to set up some great goals for Jemma, Hannah and Alex. A brilliant game all around - well done girls! Final score was 7-0. Also thanks very much to the players from seniors who played two games to come help us out!

Knights V Olympic. Won 2-1. A great comeback by the team after being down 1-0 at half time. Jemma scored early in the second half to level the game and Hannah in the last minute to seal the victory. A great team effort.

18 Apr 10

Knights V Clarence. Lost 1-0. The team was unfortunate to lose this game after Clarence scored a scrappy goal. Brilliant goalkeeping my Brenda.

11 Apr 10

Knights V Zebras. Lost 3-0. Oops.

Knights V Kingborough. The teams experienced players of Marina, Danijela & Margaret led the way for our inexperienced girls to record a solid win over Kingborough scoring 2 goals in each half to win 4 - 0 and jump to the top of the ladder undefeated. Jemma filled in again for Brenda and starred in goals. First gamer Adele Wilson proved a real asset for the Club after transferring from University in the sweeper position with an outstanding performance. Alex, Hannah & Tamika showed great speed and understanding with each other for players so young, all 15years old, to enable the experienced girls to sit back and distribute so professionally. Colleen worked tirelessly at full back over lapping at times and exerting great pressure on the opposition. The team welcomes Nicole Ransley & Sarah Sealy although inexperienced showed enough to be real assets to the Reserves. A good solid win with a big chance in the race for the Premiership.

21 Mar 10

Knights V Taroona. Unfortunately Taroona could not field a Team which has given us 3 points and a 3 - 0 result. The girls were disappointed to miss out on a game.

The reserves game versus University started with injuries before taking the field with new signing from Uni Megs Howard injuring her toe at home, Lauren Brakey and sister Elisha still getting over with prior problems. Tamika Mazur " also from Uni" bravely took the field with a very bad toe. The Reserves recorded the third win of the weekend for the Club with a hard faught 2 / 1 score line. Goal keeper Brenda Nevin was unable to play due to family commitments with Jemma Dacy stepping into that role for this game and doing a great job. The team knitted well for the first time together with 5 new players in the line up. Jenni jumped right in on the wing and showed she is pressing for Premier League selection. Superb games from Hattie and Ella with the latter Captaining very professionally. 15 year old Hannah Gordon showed that it is not long before she will be ready to break into the Seniors with a good effort on the wing M/F. Margaret & Ella showed that experience does count with excellent performances, whilst Missy & Hattie gave 110%.
